Scholarship Requirements

I. For any event scholarship, the candidate must be IOGKF member in good standing. ( Award pays for Training fee, dinner & tee shirt.)

II. A written reason from the instructor with a short explanation of why you are being recommended by them.

III. An essay written by the applicant as to why they should receive a scholarship by IOGKF-USA Committee for the Growth & Development fund.

  • What motivates you most in your training?
  • How did you become interested in karate?
  • What do you want to accomplish during your training?
  • How will the scholarship help you achieve your goals?
  • How do you combine karate training with other activities in your life?
  • What do you think will be your greatest challenge in future training?

IV. Written synopsis from your dojo instructor of your attendance or attendance records from your dojo.

V. Proof of intent to attend the event

a. Airline Ticket

b. Hotel Reservation.

c. Gasshuku Registration

VII. All applications and materials must be sent to Sensei George W. Seahorn.

VIII. Should the chosen applicant not be able to attend the event the scholarship funds will need to be returned to the committee immediately so that it can be passed on to the next applicant.

IX. Only one person will be selected per dojo. Multiple people can apply but only one will be chosen.

X. Once someone has received an award they must wait 2 years before reapplying.
